How does the sleep apnea appliance work?
These custom oral mouthpieces, often referred to as, sleep apnea mouth guards, are most effective in Sleep Apnea patients who have mild or moderate sleep apnea.
The sleep apnea oral appliance works by moving the jaw forward. This increases the size of the upper airway reducing the air resistance that leads to sleep apnea and snoring.
These oral appliances for sleep apnea are often used as a substitute for CPAP or sleep apnea oral surgery. By reducing airway turbulence the appliance also stops snoring therefore making it an anti snoring device as well.
If you have been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and dislike your CPAP machine, give Glacier Dental a call to reserve a time, with our expert Dr. Heather Carpenter, to discuss how you can finally get your sleep back!
